About Us

Bulldog Parade is a public art project planned through the efforts of Drake University’s Student Senate. Various organizations and businesses around Des Moines also helped to make the 2007 parade a success.

Have you ever been to Chicago and seen the colorful "Cows on Parade" or Minneapolis to visit a painted ceramic Snoopy? All over the country, animals are making their mark on urban and suburban streets as art, and Drake has joined in the fun!

A new pack of bulldogs are gearing up to take over the Des Moines and Drake communities. These feisty pups will compliment the seven bulldogs already displaying their painted coats around Drake University’s campus.

Our Mission

The Bulldog Parade mission is to integrate Drake and the Des Moines community through public art. The end goal will invoke pride, community awareness and create cross-campus collaboration.

The first small parade occurred on the Drake campus during the 2006-2007 academic year. The second large parade will occur on both the Drake campus and the Des Moines community and will be held throughout the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 academic years. This parade will be marking the running of the 100th Relays in April of 2009.
